Eric Dwinnells welcomes back guest cohost Brian Toney to discuss the Texarkana Moonlight Murders aka The Phantom Killer. This is the case that the movie(s) The Town That Dreaded Sundown was based on. Yes believe it or not, the 70's port slasher staring a sack-headed killer was based on true events...loosely based on true events.

In part one of this two part series, Eric and Brian will go over the first attack and the first couple of murders. They'll also introduce characters such as Texas Ranger "Lone Wolf" Gonzaullas

Be sure to check out part two for the conclusion of the story as well as a discussion about the man considered to be the prime suspect.

Your host Eric Dwinnells tends to read mostly non-fiction bios and true crime books, so when his friend Lilith Beest said she wanted to come by the show to brag about some novels she had read, Eric was all for it. In this unique episode, Lil' Beesty (as Eric likes to call her) will run down a few of her favorite/recently read books all of which have horror/scifi spooky themes! Tonight we'll talk about:
Final Girls by Riley Sager

My Best Friends Exorcism by Grady Hendrix

Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero

Born by Jeff VanderMeer

and Eric tosses in a recommendation for The Dead Travel fast by Eric Nuzum.

All this plus more talk about creeps and Eric tells Lilith what he was really thinking when they first met.

Eric Dwinnells is back (on two legs!) to tell you about the Mystery of Room 214! (spoiler alert: this is also known as the vanishing hotel room). In Paris, France in 1889, two English women (a mother and a daughter) book a room in a hotel. The mother becomes quite ill with an unknown sickness. The hotel doctor is called and what happens next is...well, we don't want to give too much away.

This urban legend causes us to look for its roots. If it's not a true story then why was it made up and why does it get repeated over and over for generations? Does it contain messages about how to deal with foreigners, how businesses will kill you to save a buck, or what to do about illness?

All this plus Eric rambles on about his leg and the golden State Killer on tonight's Spooky A S!!!
