Eric Dwinnells is back to deliver a tribute the pioneering
artist, Basil Gogos who created numerous iconic images of some of
the sliver screen's most legendary monsters and boogeymen. Many of
these images were used to grace the covers of Famous Monsters of
Flimland magazine, but he also did artwork for numerous other
magazines, western novels, movie posters, and rock album covers
including Rob Zombie, The Misfits, and Electric Frankenstein.
Unfortunately, Gogos passed away earlier this month, but on this
episode we'll celebrate his life's work and find out why he chose
to use so much color in a genre that normally sticks to black,
white and grey...with a little red occasionally thrown in. We'll
also discover what he considered to be the secret that made his art
so impactful and find out what advice he has for aspiring
artists.
Also discussed on this episode: Why Eric likes having guests,
Salem, MA, Kirk Hammet (of Metallicia) and his love for Basil Gogos
as well as his It's Alive horror art exhibit at The Peabody Essex
Museum (PEM), Bobby the Brain Heenan, Chiller Theatre, and
more!
